Privacy Policy

DealScroll operates the website and app at dealscroll.co.uk, a UK shopping discovery platform. DealScroll is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@dealscroll.co.uk .

• Account information — the email address you register with, your username and display name, your password in hashed form, and your date of birth, which we use to confirm you meet our minimum age of 16.
• Profile information — anything you choose to add, such as a profile picture, a short bio or a general location.
• Preferences — the shopping categories you follow, notification settings and appearance settings such as light or dark theme.
• Activity in the app — deals you save into collections, reactions, comments, follows, searches you run and deals you open. We use this to personalise your feed.
• Content you submit — deals, comments and images you upload, together with the account they were submitted from.
• Technical information — information that is necessarily processed to deliver and secure the service, such as your IP address and browser type in server and security logs.
• Messages you send us — the content of emails or support requests, and the address you sent them from.

We do not ask for payment card details. Purchases are completed on the retailer’s own website, so any payment information you enter there is handled by that retailer and not by us.

• To provide your account and the service — creating and securing your account, showing your saved deals and collections, and publishing content you submit. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
• To personalise your feed — ranking deals using the categories you follow and how you interact with deals. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you, as personalisation is a core part of the service.
• To confirm eligibility — checking that account holders are at least 16. Lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests in operating an age-appropriate service.
• To moderate and keep the platform safe — reviewing submissions before publication, investigating misuse and preventing spam or fraud. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
• To send notifications — service and activity notifications you have enabled, and account emails such as password resets. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and consent for optional push notifications.
• For internal service administration — our team receives an internal alert containing only the email address when an account is created or a deletion is requested, so we can monitor service health, abuse and data rights requests. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
• To respond to you — handling questions, complaints, takedown requests and data rights requests. Lawful basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.

Some deals link to a retailer through an affiliate network, which may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click such a link you leave DealScroll and the network and retailer may record the click and set their own cookies or identifiers under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your name, address or payment details from those networks; any reporting we see is aggregated commission and click data.

Deals carrying an affiliate or tracked link are labelled with an #ad badge. Our affiliate disclosure explains this in full.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run DealScroll, and only for that purpose:

• Hosting and platform providers — to serve the website and app, store data and run our authentication, database, file storage and server-side functions.
• Email delivery providers — to send account emails such as sign-in confirmations and password resets.
• Sign-in providers — if you choose to sign in with Google, that provider confirms your identity to us.
• Notification delivery — your browser or device push service, where you have enabled push notifications.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

DealScroll does not currently use visitor analytics, advertising or marketing tracking technologies. We do not run Google Analytics, tag managers, advertising pixels or third-party behavioural profiling on this site.

If we introduce analytics in the future, we will complete a privacy review first and update this policy and our Cookie Policy before it goes live.

Some of our service providers process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards available under UK data protection law, such as an adequacy regulation or standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum.

• Account and profile information: for as long as your account is open.
• Saved deals, collections and preferences: for as long as your account is open, or until you delete them.
• Content you have published, such as deals and comments: may remain visible after deletion of the item where it is part of a wider conversation, but is disassociated from your account.
• Moderation and rejection records: retained as an internal audit log so we can evidence our review decisions.
• Server and security logs: retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

When you delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal information, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute.

Access to your account is protected by authentication, and our database enforces row-level access rules so that accounts can only reach the data they are entitled to. Administrative functions are authorised on the server rather than in the browser. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

DealScroll is not intended for children. You must be at least 16 to create an account, and we ask for your date of birth to confirm this. If you believe someone under 16 holds an account, contact hello@dealscroll.co.uk and we will remove it.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your information, or close your account.
• Ask us to restrict how we use your information, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
• Ask us to transfer your information to you or another provider in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent, for example push notifications.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@dealscroll.co.uk . We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

We may update this policy as DealScroll develops. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and we will tell you about significant changes through the app.
